What is direct primary care?

Direct primary care (DPC) removes insurance from the everyday doctor relationship. You pay a flat monthly membership directly to the practice, and in return you get unlimited visits, direct access to your clinician, and at-cost labs — with no copays or per-visit billing.

Do I still need health insurance?

We recommend it. Square 1 covers your primary and urgent care, but insurance protects you for hospitalizations, surgeries, specialists, and emergencies. Many members pair Square 1 with a lower-premium or high-deductible plan and save overall.

Do you accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid?

We do not bill insurance — that's what keeps pricing simple and visits unhurried. Square 1 is also not accepting Medicare or Medicaid members at this time.

How much does membership cost?

Children ages 0–17 are $40/month with an adult member, adults under 35 are $60/month, ages 35–55 are $80/month, and above 55 is $100/month. There's a one-time $99 onboarding fee for new members.

How fast can I be seen?

Same-day or next-day appointments are the norm. Many questions are answered by text within minutes, and we offer visits by phone and video when coming in isn't practical.

Can I really text my doctor?

Yes. Texting is the primary way members reach us — send a photo of a rash, ask about a medication, or request a refill. A real member of your care team responds.

What about labs, imaging, and medications?

We pass labs, imaging, and in-office medications through at wholesale cost. Common panels often run a few dollars instead of a few hundred, and you'll always know the price beforehand.

What if I need a specialist or the hospital?

We coordinate the referral, share your records, and help you understand your options and costs. Your membership continues regardless of where else your care takes you.

Are there contracts or cancellation fees?

No long-term contracts. Membership is month to month and you can cancel anytime. If you later rejoin, a $299 returning-member fee applies.
